This is the most common type of historic car plate. Other varities exist, such as Exhibit and Street Rod, but are not as common. These plates appear to have started at A10.

Not sure when the switch from wide dies to narrow dies happened on antique plates.

It looks like Antique plates started at A100 upon introduction of the narrow dies. The "ANTIQUE" slogan to the left has also been condensed slightly, to make room for four characters instead of three.

Photographed in use

Photographed recently at a car show in Stowe. For some reason, many of the classic cars registered in Vermont had standard passenger plates or vanities, while cars from neighboring states such as New Hampshire had almost entirely antique plates. In fact, the plate to the left was the only Vermont antique plate at the show. Perhaps Vermont's restrictions or charges make standard registration a better option?
