1999, wide dies
Picture from eBay
This type is not as common as I thought it would be. I've only
seen a few of them in use and never had a chance to photograph
one. Most buses around here have municipal plates, apportioned
bus plates (see below) or just passenger plates.

I'm not exactly sure when the transition was made from wides to
narrow dies.

Private ALPCA collection
I believe local transit bus plates are usually in the 000A format.

2007, narrow dies, new style sticker
Photographed in use
I believe this is an error plate, because the plate on the back
of the van had a normal wide dies bus plate with no Local Transit
caption. I suspect this plate is a remake, that was made incorrectly.
Furthermore, regular bus plates use A000, not 000A like Local
Transit.

2005, wide dies, new style sticker
Photographed in use
This is a nifty type that few states have. However, this plate type
is much more common than the standard bus plate pictured above.
Most charter buses I see sport these plates, though like the well
driller plates I have only seen examples on the wide dies base.
This plate in particular is especially interesting because of the
sticker, which used the very limited Times New Roman style font
(which is now probably covered up since this picture was taken years
ago). |

narrow dies sample
Picture from Manny Jacob - ALPCA #6050
Sample version of the plate type above. This plate was made using
narrow dies, though I have never seen a narrow dies example on the
road. |
